The SCAR OSC 2026 will take place 10–14 August in Oslo, Norway. In addition, there are plenty of pre- and post-meetings.
The SCAR Antarctic Biodiversity Portal and our various projects (ADVANCE, WOBEC, POLARIS, SYNCHRONY) will be well represented at the Conference.

Meeting for the SCAR Programme Planning group (led by Huw Griffiths, Cath Waller and Anton Van de Putte). Come and learn about C-CAGE and how you can contribute.
Climate change represents a major threat to the stability and health of Antarctic ecosystems. Understanding the fate of the organisms that call the land, water, ice and ocean of Antarctica home requires understanding how they will respond to these environmental changes.
The aim of C-CAGE is to use the natural environmental gradients in temperature, ice cover, and other physical drivers that exist in different parts of Antarctica and the sub-Antarctic (with latitude, longitude, altitude and depth) to better predict the likely outcomes for life as the region’s habitats change.
More reliable predictions of future ecological change will enable better management and conservation of Antarctica’s unique biodiversity and ecosystems.

The help desk will assist researchers in navigating SCAR’s data management framework and engaging with National Antarctic Data Centres.

O3 – The Southern Ocean in the UN Decade for Ocean Science: the DCC-SOR, other Decade structures, Antarctica InSync and SYNCHRONY

The workshop will include presentations by the Decade Collaborative Center for the Southern Ocean Region (DCC-SOR), as well as participation from the Southern Ocean Taskforce, which was responsible for the publication of the Southern Ocean Action Plan.
The Taskforce acts as the Advisory Board for the DCC-SOR, and the workshop will feature presentations from key Ocean Decade structures, including the DCO (Decade Coordination Office) for Ocean Data Sharing and the DCC for Ocean Prediction.
Understanding the roles of these Decade structures will be discussed in the context of the Antarctica InSync project and the exciting opportunities represented by the SYNCHRONY project, which kicks off in August.
